In order to recrate something that looks professional and that also fits with the genre, here is some analysis of other real examples of Digi Booklets.
Here is the cover of Florence And The Machine's album 'Lungs' key things to realise here are the use of the the artists hair and make-up.
Conforming with Indie, Pop style, her hair appears to be quite loose and looks as though there has not been much effort been put into styling it. her make-up however does defy the Indie, pop style we can clearly see the use of blusher, mascara and eye-shadow. this is probably because it image is being used on an album cover and although there is quite allot of make-up being used here, the style is still indie as the colours used reflect a more natural look and does not use harsh and clashing colours. Her dress also is quite typically indie, being quite floating and simplistic.
Allthough all of the things i have listed above are in relation to females and our artist is a solo male, it does not matter as the make-up will not matter, and the style of dress can simply be altered to fit a male accordingly.
Her brand image is captured here in this album cover shot. Her brand image is feminine, but unlike other artists, is not overly feminine. We also see that she is not looking directly at the camera. this could be due to the fact that she is an indie artists and therefore feels that she does not need to follow generic conventions, whereas with other more mainstream artists, they are more likely to follow this convention.

Here are some images I took of a Black Eyed Peas album booklet. Although this is not in the Indie Pop genre, the basic conventions will be the same regardless of the style of music. You can see that the front cover includes all members of the band and are all looking directly towards the camera. This engages the potential buyer and is an important way of 'connecting' with the fans. The song credits takes up most of the book covering 7 pages. This basically is giving credit to each individual who helped create the songs. it goes through each song and who did what to help as can be seen in the picture. After the credits section came the Thankyou section. this section basically thanks those who have helped the band get to were they were they are now (or at the time, this album was released in 2006). At the back of the booklet there is a merchandise section. this is unusual for album booklets as most do not have such a section. Most will also advertise a website more predominantly than advertising the merchandise. Although as can bee seen in the picture their webpage is also havily advertised. What is most unusual about this booklet is there is no lyrics in the booklet. Most commonly, people associate the album booklet to have lyrics printed inside. The Black Eyed Peas are typically a mianstreem band and will therefore follow conventions used by other artists in the genre to create a product that the consumers will recognise but will have BEP's own personal brand image stamped on it. Their brand image is know for being quite tough, rebellious and humorous, and we can gather moat of this by looking at the front cover. The connotations of the images we see tell us their brand image. For example, I personally infer from their album cover that they consider themselves to be a bit 'bad ass'. I get this impression simply because of the clothes they are wearing. Fergie is wearing a quite revealing lace top with what i assume to be leather pants and also gold rings on each finger. All of the men are wearing leather jackets and The colours/ style of font gives the album cover a slightly vintage look with the distressed text font and the cabaret red background.
Here is a slightly more conventional picture from Taylor Swifts digital booklet from her album Speak now. As you can see, lyrics are visible fro two of her songs. Although this is only one page from a whole Digi booklet, we can see that again conventions are used. A shot of the artist looking into the camera in order to engage the fan. Her own brand image is very predominant here. Because her style is very girly we see things like the swirly hand written style of font, the long gown she is wearing and also the frame in the bottom left corner with added design such as the curls that look almost plant-like show her girly brand image.

Some good observations here Charlotte. May be worth noting the key ingredients for a front cover an a back cover - what information etc do we expect to find on each? Note that you are producing inside panels, not strictly a booklet and that often these offer additional images to extend the brand image of the album/ artist..
