Above is a photo of indie/alternative band, New Found Glory. as you can see, similar styles apply as to what we see the script wearing. the style of jumpers and jackets implya sort of university lifestyle with a practical and casual approach to dress. The styled hair tells us that the image has been created, and maybe not somehting that each individual band member may choose for themselves as the over styling of the hair makes the look seem forced.
In comparision with Ed Sheeran (below) we see that the indie/alternative/pop style seems to be a more natural and less forced apperance. A simple casual hooidemakes this version of indie style seem more natural and less likely to have been created as a brand image. this is because we can see that this style fits the person. unlike some of the band members from New Found Glory who looked out of place with this style oth clothing on.
Another main feature of male Indie style is the check, flannet shirts. as we see in the photograph below of Bon Iver (indie artist). Most indie styles inclube waring a polo neck t-shirtunder either a jumper of a flannel shirt. as we can see, so far each picture reflects this.
As Far as femla Indie style goes key aspects are print dressed, boots or retro shoes such as Vans or converse, and also the style of makeup is key. Winged eyeliner is usually visible and it is most comon for a female Indie artists lips to either have a bold shade of lipstick or nude.

This style is likely to appeal to audiences as it stands out from conventional pop. the music often has a warmer, more soulful sound and allot of people find indie/pop/alternative msic an easy genre to listen to as it covers a range of styles in an individual way.
The ideologies Indie/pop represents are genreally country or rural lifestyles as most of the artists within the genre such as Ed Sheeran in particular, come form a rural up bringing usually in valleys or small towns. This would appeal to audiences who live in similar surroundings and they will relate to the artisits image and brand. identify with it and then buy into the brand image.

Here are some band images from the indie genre bands The Script (top 2 pictures) and The Fray (bottom 2 pictures) We can see some similarites in clothing/style e.g. jackets, shirts and jeans etc. Their hair styles are similar, so we can tell that both groups band image has been created whilst being a group and not there own style from when they werent in a group.
Here we have images from the aretist Ed Sheeran from the indie/pop genre. He has a more casual style of clothing and hair style. e.g. wearing hoodies, shits, t-shits and jeans. He just uses a bit of VO5 wax for his ginger hair, so he doesnt really style it, just throws a bit of wax in it. So Ed Sheeran is definitely not similar to The Script and The Fray even though their style of music is.
Some good observations, Charlotte, but you may well want to spell check this at some point! You could summarise the key elements of indie style and indicate how this will help you.
