Post 6: Genre of music video

Genre is a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particularform, content, technique, or the like: the genre of epicpoetry; the genre of symphonic music.


The genre that we have chosen to do for our  music video in Media studies is indie/ pop because it follows indie styles with dress sense, pace of the lyric but it is also pop because pop songs have repetitive chorus' which are catchy and easily picked up. The script uses lonely and empty location but again it also does uses more urban locations such as city centers. 

This is a screen shot from one of The Scripts song "For the first time'  it is set in a lonely and empty location showing he is lonely and desperate. His arms are spread wide open which could  portray he is trying to make things but the times are hard which is similar to one of the lines in the song "trying to make things work, but man these times are hard" 

This is a screen shot from another one of The Script songs 'Nothing' this is set in a more urban landscape, most likely in a city club where it is crowded with people. However their indie style is still present due to their hair style and clothing.
